[브레이크뉴스=양영석 기자] 김해시는 도심 떼까마귀 출현에 따른 시민 불편 해소를 위해 퇴치를 추진한다고 18일 밝혔다.
시는 올해 들어 떼까마귀 배설물 등 다수의 생활 불편 민원을 접수해 민원지 일대 점검 결과 도로, 인도 등에서 배설물을 확인했다.
이에 시는 조류 퇴치 레이저를 이용한 퇴치반을 운영한다.
퇴치반은 (사)자연보호협의회 회원과 시청 직원들로 구성해 떼까마귀가 주로 출몰하는 지역을 순찰하다 무리를 발견하면 레이저를 쏴 다른 곳으로 쫓아낸다.
시는 퇴치반 운영 결과를 모니터링하고 타 지자체 사례를 벤치마킹해 올 하반기 겨울철 떼까마귀 피해 대책을 수립할 계획이다.
겨울철새 떼까마귀는 군집성이 매우 강해 수십에서 수천 마리까지 무리를 지어 다닌다.
러시아, 중국, 몽골 지역에 서식하다 겨울철이 되면 따뜻한 곳을 찾아 이동한다.
낮에는 먹이활동으로 도심에서 잘 발견되지 않지만 야간이면 조용하고 조명이 적은 구 도심지 전기줄 등에서 휴식을 취하는 것으로 보인다.
이용규 환경정책과장은 “민원 지역을 중심으로 퇴치반을 운영하고 유동인구가 많은 도심지를 점검해 퇴치 작업을 하는 등 시민 불편 해소에 노력하겠다”며 “배설물로 더럽혀진 도로와 인도의 정화 활동도 관련 부서와 협조해 신속히 조치하겠다”고 말했다.
