당진시(시장 오성환)는 국립식량과학원과 협력하여 육성 중인 '당진특화 아미쌀'의 2025년 첫 수출식을 지난 21일 ㈜미소미에서 개최한다고 밝혔다.
이번에 수출되는 아미쌀은 총 5톤으로, 수출 대상인 네덜란드의 아미쌀 수요가 증가함에 따라 올해 네덜란드 수출량은 지난해 20톤보다 2배 많은 40톤에 이를 것으로 전망된다.
아미쌀은 2022년 당진시가 공모전을 통해 선정한 상표명으로, 2024년 말까지 싱가포르, 네덜란드, 몽골, 캐나다 등 4개국에 64톤을 수출하는 성과를 거두었다. 특히 몽골에는 현재까지 20톤이 수출됐다.
당진시는 아미쌀이 당진특화쌀로 자리 잡기 위해 아미물품 3종 개발, 아미쌀 농가 맛집 육성, 아미쌀 홍보 행사 개최 등 다양한 홍보 전략을 추진하고 있다.
㈜미소미의 이태호 대표는 “수출 확대를 위해 올해에도 해외에서 당진쌀 홍보·판촉전을 개최할 계획이며, 당진특화 아미쌀을 많은 세계인이 접할 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 밝혔다.
시 관계자는 “밥맛 좋고 식감이 우수한 ‘아미쌀’의 수출 확대를 위해 다양한 전략으로 홍보하겠다”며, “연구-지도-민간이 유기적으로 협력해 우리나라 대표 수출 쌀로 아미쌀을 육성하겠다”고 강조했다.
