충남 금산군이 제105주년 3.1절을 앞두고 지역 출신 독립유공자들의 희생과 헌신을 기리기 위해 묘소 참배에 나섰다.
지난 24일 박범인 금산군수를 비롯해 서승일 대전지방보훈청장, 이인원 금산교육장 등 관계자들은 군북면 보광리에 안장된 이반옥·이일만 지사의 묘소를 찾아 헌화와 묵념을 올리며 애국선열들의 넋을 기렸다.
이반옥·이일만 지사는 1919년 3월 27일 충북 옥천군 이원 장터에서 열린 독립만세운동에 참여했다. 당시 시위를 주도하던 육창주·허상기·김용이 지사가 일본 헌병에 연행되자, 이들은 분노한 군중과 함께 주재소로 몰려가 강력히 항의했다. 이 과정에서 체포된 두 사람은 같은 해 5월 6일 징역 5년형을 선고받고 옥고를 치렀다.
금산군은 독립운동가들의 희생을 기리기 위해 1982년 10월 8일 묘비를 건립했으며, 정부는 1991년 이들에게 건국훈장 4등급 애국장을 추서했다.
박범인 군수는 “2025년은 광복 80주년을 맞는 뜻깊은 해”라며 “선열들의 고귀한 희생을 기억하고 독립 정신을 후세에 계승할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.
