브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 미국과 우크라이나가 오는 28일(현지시간) 광물협정을 맺을 것이라는 보도가 나왔다.
미국 ABC뉴스 보도에 따르면 볼로디미르 젤렌스키 우크라이나 대통령이 28일 미국을 방문해 우크라이나 자원개발 수익의 50%를 미국이 주도하는 기금에 투자한다는 내용이 담긴 광물협정에 서명한다.
도널드 트럼프 대통령은 25일 백악관 집무실에서 "젤렌스키 대통령이 금요일(28일)에 미국으로 온다는 이야기를 들었다. 저에게는 좋은 일"이라며 "그는 저와 함께 협정에 서명하길 원하고 있다"고 밝혔다.

아울러 우크라이나가 요구해 온 '안보 보장' 조항은 담기지 않을 것으로 알려졌다.
협정안 초안에는 '미국은 우크라이나가 자유롭고 주권적이며 안전하게 유지되기를 바란다'는 내용만 명기됐을 뿐 구체적인 안보 보장 내용은 빠졌다.
트럼프 대통령 역시 "우크라이나에는 모든 이가 수용할 수 있는 평화유지가 필요하다"고 원론적인 입장만을 밝혔다.
평화유지를 위한 미군 주둔 문제에 대해서도 "유럽이 큰 역할을 할 것으로 본다"며 선을 그었다.
다만 백악관은 "협정안에 구체적 안보 보장 내용이 없더라도 우크라이나와 관련해 미국의 경제적 이익이 존재한다는 사실만으로도 러시아의 위협이 억제될 수 있다"는 입장을 밝혔다.
