경기북부보훈지청(지청장 손순욱)은 현충시설과 보훈 정신을 알리기 위해 ‘4인 5각 함께 걸어 보훈’ 캠페인을 2월부터 12월까지 1년간 진행한다.
‘4인 5각 함께 걸어 보훈’은 경기북부보훈지청 직원 네 명이 한 조가 되어, 매달 11개 관할 시군 중 한 곳의 현충시설을 방문하고 현충시설 및 국가보훈부 사업 홍보 활동 등을 자유롭게 펼치는 프로젝트다.

현충시설을 단순히 보존하는 차원을 넘어 직접 가꾸고 지역 주민들에게 알리는 것이 목표다.
또한 함께 보훈을 실천하며 직원끼리 소통도 장려하는 것에 의미가 있다.
이 프로젝트의 핵심은 참여다.

직원들은 직접 현충시설을 방문해 주변을 청소하거나 현충시설과 안내판을 점검하는 등 관리 활동을 펼칠 예정이다.
아울러, 방문 후 SNS를 통해 해당 시설의 역사적 의미를 소개하며 시민들이 관심을 가질 수 있도록 홍보할 예정이다.
2월 첫 방문지로 선정된 시설은 의정부역 공원에 있는 ‘의정부 3·1만세운동 기념비(의정부시 의정부동 222-29)’다.

이곳은 광복 70주년 즈음을 맞아 독립유공자의 애국정신을 후대에 알리기 위해 광복회 의정부시지회에서 2016년 3월 15일에 설립하였다.
2월 18일, 2월 조원들은 ‘의정부 3·1만세운동 기념비’ 주변을 청소하고 의정부역 공원 앞에서 시민들에게 국가유공자를 위한 기부 프로젝트인 모두의 보훈 드림 홍보하였다.
또한 활동 내용을 직접 영상으로 만들어 경기북부보훈지청 유튜브 채널에도 게재하며 많은 사람의 관심을 유도하였다.
이번 2월 조장인 보상과 옥영대 주무관은 “의정부역을 정말 많이도 지나쳤었고, 접근이 정말 쉬운 곳에 기념비가 자리 잡고 있었음에도 이곳을 잘 알지 못하였다. 현충시설에 관심 없었던 나를 반성하는 계기가 되었다.”라는 활동 소감을 전했다.
