브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 미국이 우크라이나에 대한 군사 지원을 모두 중단하겠다고 발표했다.
미국 폭스뉴스 보도에 따르면 백악관은 3일(현지시간) 성명을 내고 "우크라이나에 대한 원조를 중단하고 원점에서 재검토하겠다"고 밝혔다.
이같은 조치는 지난달 28일 도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령과 볼로디미르 젤렌스키 우크라이나 대통령의 정상회담이 설전으로 파행된 데 따른 것으로 해석된다.
백악관은 원조 중단 이유에 대해 "트럼프 대통령은 평화에 집중한다는 입장을 분명히 밝혀왔다"면서 "우리에게는 이 목표에 전념하는 파트너가 필요하다"고 설명했다.
젤렌스키를 사실상 '전쟁광'으로 비유하며 종전 협정을 진행할 적임자가 아니라는 의미로 풀이된다.
이에 따라 백악관은 현재 우크라이나로 이전을 계획한 무기를 비롯해 이미 폴란드에 도착해 있는 무기까지도 모두 이전하지 않을 전망이다.
한편, 지난달 28일 양 정상은 광물 협정 체결을 추진하기 위해 정상회담을 가졌으나, 정상회담이라는 말이 무색하게도 온갖 설전이 오간 끝에 결국 협정은 파행됐다.
트럼프 대통령은 이 자리에서 젤렌스키 대통령을 향해 "독재자", "수백만 목숨, 3차 세계대전으로 도박을 하고 있다", "전쟁 자체를 시작하지 말았어야 했다" 등의 비난을 퍼부었다.

The US has announced that it will suspend all military aid to Ukraine.
