브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 노태악 중앙선거관리위원장이 5일 선관위 고위직 간부들의 자녀 특혜 채용 문제에 대해 통렬하게 반성한다면서 거듭 사과를 표명했다.
노태악 위원장은 이날 공개한 대국민사과문을 통해 "선관위원장으로서 통렬한 반성과 함께 머리 숙여 사과드린다"고 밝혔다.
그는 "이번 사건으로 선관위에 대한 국민 신뢰가 흔들리고 있다는 것을 잘 알고 있다"며 "나아가 선관위의 조직 운영에 대한 불신이 선거 과정에 대한 불신으로 이어질 수 있다는 것에 책임을 통감하고 있다"고 했다.
이어 "선관위는 국민 여러분이 만족할 때까지 제도 개선을 위해 최선을 다하겠다"며 "인사 규정 정비 및 감사기구 독립성 강화 등 그동안 마련했던 제도 개선에 안주하지 않고 다양한 외부통제 방안도 적극 검토하겠다"고 약속했다.
또한 "특혜 채용 문제와 관련해 부적정하게 업무를 처리한 직원에 대해서는 오늘 징계위원회에 징계 요구를 했으며, 감사원이 요구한 징계 수준과 선관위 내부 기준을 고려해 엄중하게 조치할 예정"이라고 전했다.
그러면서 "선관위는 헌법기관의 독립성에만 기대지 않고 국민 신뢰 회복을 위해 끊임없는 자정의 노력을 다하겠다"고 덧붙였다.
한편, 감사원은 지난달 27일 선관위에 대한 직무감찰 결과 발표를 통해 고위직 자녀 채용 비리와 복무기강 해이 등의 문제를 지저갰다.
