브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 도널드 트럼프 미국 대통령이 블라디미르 푸틴 러시아 대통령과 18일(현지 시간) 장시간 통화 끝에 우크라이나 전쟁에서 에너지 및 인프라 시설에 대한 공격을 30일간 중단하기로 합의했다.
또한 영구 종전 협정을 위한 논의도 시작하기로 했다.
AP통신 보도에 따르면 미국 백악관은 이날 트럼프 대통령과 푸틴 대통령이 90여분간 통화했다고 밝히며 "두 지도자는 우크라이나 전쟁 휴전과 평화의 필요성에 대해 얘기했다. 이들은 전쟁이 지속적인 평화와 함께 종식될 필요가 있다는데 동의했다"고 밝혔다.
이어 "흑해에서의 해상 정전과 완전한 휴전, 영구적인 평화를 이행하기 위한 기술적 협상은 물론 에너지와 인프라시설 공격을 멈추고 평화로의 움직임을 시작하는 것에 합의했다"고 말했다.
백악관은 아울러 종전 협상에 대한 논의는 중동 지역에서 시작될 것이라고 덧붙였는데, 앞서 휴전 논의가 진행된 사우디아라비아에서 계속 종전 협상을 진행하겠다는 의미로 읽힌다.
다만 미국이 당초 추진하던 전면적인 30일 임시 휴전 조치는 불발된 것으로 보인다.
앞서 미국은 우크라이나와는 종전 30일 임시 휴전 합의를 이끌어 냈으나, 러시아는 미국의 휴전안을 수용하지 않고 중요시설에 대한 공격만 중단하는 절충안을 제시한 것으로 분석된다.
아울러 러시아와 우크라이나는 19일 포로 175명씩을 교환할 계획이며 중상을 입고 치료 중인 우크라 군인 23명은 석방할 예정으로 전해졌다.
