충남 서산시가 2023년 국토교통부로부터 선정된 ‘드론 특별자유화 구역’이 성공적으로 운영되고 있다고 24일 밝혔다.
드론 특별자유화 구역은 드론 택시 및 배송 등 드론을 활용한 서비스 산업을 위한 규제 특구로, 드론 비행 시 적용되는 규제가 대폭 완화된다.
서산시의 드론 특별자유화 구역은 부남호, 가로림만, 삼길포항 등 총 3개 구역으로 구성되어 있으며, 이 지역에서 드론 개발 및 실증이 활발히 진행되고 있다.
지난 19일에는 제2구역 가로림만에서 태경전자㈜의 조명방송드론이 시범 운영되어 성공적으로 실증된 사례로 주목받았다.
이 드론은 저조도 카메라 영상 모니터링, 야간 수색용 고출력 조명, 방송 스피커를 탑재하여 갯벌이라는 특수한 환경에서도 안정적인 모니터링 서비스를 제공하는 데 성공했다.
서산시는 드론 특별자유화 구역의 안정적인 운영을 위해 비행 실증 시 현장 점검과 주기적인 드론 이착륙장 안전 점검 등을 실시하고 있으며, 앞으로도 행정력을 집중할 계획이다.
성광석 서산시 스마트정보과장은 “가로림만 갯벌 지역에서 조명방송드론의 성공적인 실증 사례가 서산을 K-드론 혁신의 중심지로 만드는 초석이 될 것”이라며, “드론 특별자유화 구역을 기술 개발과 실증의 장으로 확대해 나가겠다”고 말했다.
한편, 제1구역에서는 수소 대형 드론 기체 연구 실증이, 제3구역에서는 대산석유화학단지 드론 안전 모니터링 실증이 진행되고 있다.
