경주시, ‘농촌중심지활성화사업’ 순항중…문화복합센터 조성

이번 사업의 핵심은 2028년까지 총 201억 원을 투입해 서경주역 폐역 부지(금장리 466-1번지 일원)에 행정, 문화, 체육 기능이 융합된 ‘원스톱 문화복합센터’를 조성하는 것이다.

사업비는 총 201억 원으로, 그 중 56억 원은 현곡면 행정복지센터 신축비로 사용되며, 국비 102억 원, 도비 10억 원, 시비 89억 원으로 구성됐다. 문화복합센터는 대지면적 1만2,948㎡, 연면적 2,392㎡ 규모로 지상 2층 건물로 건설된다. 주요 시설로는 현곡면 행정복지센터, 주민 프로그램실, 동아리방, 건강관리실, 다목적 강당 등이 들어설 예정이며, 야외 공연과 행사가 가능한 ‘다목적 열린마당’과 100여 면 규모의 주차장도 마련된다.

이번 사업은 2023년 6월 농림축산식품부 공모에 선정되며 본격화되었고, 현재 기본 계획이 수립 중이다. 시는 오는 6월 농식품부의 기본계획 승인을 받고, 7월에는 건축공모 및 실시설계를 완료할 예정이다. 2026년 1월에는 경북도의 시행계획 승인을 거쳐, 2026년 3월 착공을 시작해 2028년 12월 준공을 목표로 하고 있다.

한편, 경주시는 ‘농촌중심지활성화사업’의 추진에 앞서 주민들의 이해도를 높이고 참여를 유도하기 위해 오는 5월 초에 ‘농촌중심지활성화사업 주민위원회 선진지 견학 및 현장 포럼’을 개최할 예정이다. 이 행사는 1박 2일 일정으로 세종시와 전북 진안군에서 열리며, 주민위원 등 시민 40여 명이 참여할 예정이다.
