한덕수 대통령 권한대행 국무총리가 27일 "(통상 전쟁에서) 우리 기업 피해를 최소화하기 위해 정부·민간이 가진 모든 네트워크를 활용해 미국 정부와 소통해 나가겠다"고 밝혔다.
한 권한대행은 이날 오후 서울 종로구 삼청동 국무총리 공관에서 열린 '경제6단체 간담회'에서 잇따른 미 정부 관세 부과 조치 발표 관련해 "통상 전쟁 상황에서 우리 기업을 최우선 보호하기 위해 기업과 함께 대응 전략을 마련하고 맞춤형 기업 지원에 집중하겠다"며 이같이 밝혔다.
그러면서 "우리 경제는 대외적으로 통상 환경 불확실성 증대·경쟁국 기술 추격과 대내적으론 불안정한 국내 정치 상황·내수 부진이 지속되면서 어려움에 처해 있다"며 "글로벌 관세 전쟁이 현실화한 현 상황을 엄중하게 인식하며 직면한 위기를 극복하고 대한민국 국익·산업을 지키기 위해 모든 지혜·역량을 쏟아붓겠다"고 말했다.
또 "기업의 안정적 경영활동·투자를 지원하기 위해 기업인 목소리를 경청하면서 필요 조치를 신속하게 취해 나가도록 하겠다"며 "민관이 원팀돼 지금 위기를 극복할 수 있도록 경제단체에서 앞장서 힘 보태 주실 것을 당부드리며 정부로선 할 수 있는 모든 조치를 민간·경제단체 여러분과 힘 합쳐 해나갈 것"이라고 밝혔다.
앞서 지난 26일(현지시간) 미 정부는 외국에서 생산된 자동차에 대해 25% 품목 관세를 부과하기로 결정한 가운데 오는 4월 2일엔 상호 관세 부과가 시작될 것으로 보인다.
