[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시는 27일 내동면 평생학습관 일원에서 제80회 식목일을 맞아 나무 심기 행사를 가졌다고 밝혔다.
이날 행사에는 조규일 진주시장과 백승흥 진주시의회 의장, 공공기관 등 250여 명이 참석해 편백나무와 벚나무 500그루를 심었다.
이번 행사는 최근 발생한 산불로 소실된 산림 자원의 복구와 산림 보호의 중요성을 알리기 위해 진행됐다.
또 진주시는 오는 6월 개최되는 '2025 대한민국 정원산업박람회'의 성공을 기원하는 의미도 담았다.
조규일 시장은 “기후 위기 대응과 미래 세대를 위한 산림자원 보호에 지속적으로 힘쓰겠다”고 말했다.
