브레이크뉴스 최애리 기자= 명품 플랫폼 발란이 31일 서울회생법원에 기업회생절차를 신청했다고 공식 발표했다.
최형록 발란 대표는 이날 입장문을 통해 "파트너 여러분의 상거래 채권을 안정적으로 변제하고 발란 플랫폼의 지속 가능성을 제고하기 위해 오늘 서울회생법원에 기업회생절차를 신청하게 됐다"고 밝혔다.
최 대표는 신청 이유에 대해 "발란은 올 1분기 내 계획했던 투자 유치를 일부 진행했으나, 당초 예상과 달리 추가 자금 확보가 지연돼 단기적인 유동성 경색에 빠지게 됐다"고 설명했다.
그는 "다만 발란은 일반 소비자에게 금전적 피해가 발생하지 않았고, 현재 미지급된 상거래 채권 규모도 발란의 월 거래액보다 적은 수준"이라며 "3월부터는 쿠폰 및 각종 비용을 구조적으로 절감해 흑자 기반을 확보한 상태"라고 주장했다.
이어 "이번 회생절차를 통해 단기적인 자금 유동성 문제만 해소된다면 빠르게 정상화될 수 있다"며 "회생절차는 파트너 여러분의 권익을 신속히 회복하고 지속 가능한 사업 기반을 마련하는 회복의 과정"이라고 강조했다.
또한 최 대표는 회생절차와 함께 M&A(인수합병)도 병행하겠다면서 이번주 중 매각 주관사를 지정해 본격적으로 실행에 나설 것이라고 했다.
최 대표는 "회생계획안 인가 전에 외부 인수자를 유치해 향후 현금흐름을 대폭 개선함으로써 사업의 안정성과 성장 가능성을 빠르게 높이기 위한 결정"이라며 "인수자를 조기 유치해 자금 유입을 앞당김으로써 파트너의 상거래 채권도 신속하게 변제할 것"을 강조했다.
한편, 발란은 지난 24일 파트너사에 지급 예정이던 정산금 지급을 보류하며 유동성 위기가 표면으로 드러났다. 현재는 앱 내 결제 시스템이 중단되면서 사실상 플랫폼 운영이 전면 중단된 상태다. 전 직원은 지난 26일부터 재택근무에 들어갔으며 강남 본사는 폐쇄됐다.
최 대표는 이번 주부터 직접 셀러들을 만나러 다니며 상황을 설명하겠다고 했다.
