진로교육원은 경남 학생들의 진로 및 직업 체험을 위해 495억 원의 예산을 투입해 조성되었으며, 교육관과 학생 생활관으로 구성되었다. 총 7개 체험관에 20개 체험실과 65개 직업 체험 콘텐츠 시설을 갖추어 다양한 체험 기회를 제공한다.

이찬호 위원장은 진로교육원이 경남 진로교육의 대표 기관으로 자리 잡고, 학생들의 무한한 가능성을 열어주는 배움의 현장이 되기를 희망한다고 밝혔다.

진로교육원은 개원 후 1개월간 밀양지역 학생들을 대상으로 시범 운영을 거쳐 다음 달부터 경상남도 전체 학생들을 위한 본격적인 운영에 들어갈 예정이다.
