브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 신동욱 국민의힘 수석대변인은 17일 "신안산선 붕괴사고 희생자의 명복을 빌며, 인재(人災)가 반복되지 않도록 제도적 보완에 힘쓰겠다"고 밝혔다.
신동욱 수석대변인은 이날 논평을 통해 "안타까운 사고로 유명을 달리하신 고인과 유가족분들께 깊은 애도의 뜻을 전한다"며 "해당 현장은 사고 전부터 이미 붕괴 조짐이 있었지만 충분한 방비책 없이 근로자들을 투입한 것으로 알려졌다"고 지적했다.
이어 "결국 안전의식 결여가 사고로 이어졌을 가능성이 크며, 사전에 막을 수 있었던 인재였음이 드러나고 있다"고 강조했다.
신 대변인은 또 "한국 건설업은 세계적으로 기술력을 인정받고 있지만, 여전히 OECD 산재사고 사망률 1위라는 오명을 벗지 못하고 있다"고 우려하며 "이제는 구조적 문제를 개선하고 안전의식을 획기적으로 높일 비책이 필요하다"고 말했다.
아울러 "그 어떤 순간에도 작업자들의 안전은 최우선으로 보호받아야 하며, 정부와 관계 당국은 철저한 사고 원인 규명과 책임자 처벌은 물론, 근본적인 안전관리 시스템 확립에 총력을 기울여야 한다"고 덧붙였다.
