세종시 대중교통 이용자 사고 위험을 줄이기 위한 연구모임 2차회의가 16일 열렸다.
세종시의회 ‘세종시 친 보행자 환경조성을 위한 대중교통 개선 연구모임(대표의원 최원석)’은 이날 의회청사 의정실에서 간담회를 갖고 추진방향에 대해 논의했다.
간담회에 앞서 연구 모임은 집행부로부터 세종시 정류장 주변 보행자 교통사고 현황에 대한 설명을 청취했다. 이후 ‘세종시 정류장 보행환경 개선방안 수립 연구용역’의 착수 보고를 듣고 의견을 교환하는 시간을 가졌다.
이번 연구용역은 고려대학교 세종산학협력단에서 약 6개월간 수행할 예정이다.
용역을 통해 세종시 BRT 정류장 보행자 사고에 대한 실증분석을 통해 사고 발생 원인을 규명하고, 실효성 있는 개선방안을 제시하는 것으로 알려졌다..
간담회에 참석한 회원들은 이번 연구용역을 통해 정책 수용도가 높은 결과를 도출할 수 있도록 연구용역 수행기관에 데이터 분석 방향, 개선방안 발굴 방향 등에 대해 다양한 의견을 제시했다.
김영현 의원은 “보행자 무단횡단으로 인한 사고가 다수 발생하고 있으나, 이를 저지하기에 한계가 있는 상황이다”며, “‘차대사람’ 사고가 발생하더라도 피해 정도와 사고위험도를 최소화하는 안전장치가 이번 연구용역을 통해 제시됐으면 한다”고 말했다.
또, 김현미 의원은 “연구용역 기간 등을 고려하면, 이번 연구용역에서는 세종시 전체를 과업 범위로 삼기보다는 특정 정류장에 대한 다각적인 분석을 통해 유의미한 결과를 얻을 수 있도록 선택과 집중이 필요하다”고 했다.
최원석 대표의원은 “1건의 중대한 사고가 발생하기 전에 29건의 경미한 사고와 300건의 위험상황이 발생한다는 ‘하인리히의 법칙’이 있다”며 “이번 연구모임을 통해 세종시 대중교통 이용자의 사고 위험 상황을 최소화하는 성과를 거둘 수 있도록 하겠다”고 밝혔다..
