동국대 WISE캠퍼스, 경주시의회 의원 초청 간담회 개최…지역 상생 방안 모색

【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=동국대학교 WISE캠퍼스(총장 류완하)는 지난 17일 오전 11시, 교내 백주년기념관에서 ‘경주시의회 의원 초청 간담회’를 열고 지역과 대학의 상생 협력 방안을 논의했다고 21일 밝혔다.

이번 간담회는 동국대 WISE캠퍼스가 경주시의회 의원들을 초청해 지역사회와의 긴밀한 협력 및 지속 가능한 발전 전략을 모색하고자 마련됐다.

행사는 류완하 총장과 이동협 경주시의회 의장의 인사말을 시작으로, 김상욱 기획처장이 캠퍼스의 주요 현안 및 경주시와의 협력 사업에 대해 발표했다. 이어 참석자들은 학령인구 감소 및 지역 인구 소멸 문제 등 대학과 지역이 공동으로 해결해야 할 과제에 대한 심도 깊은 논의를 진행했다.

류완하 총장은 “산불 재난 대응과 APEC 등 시정 현안으로 바쁜 가운데 참석해주신 의원들께 감사드린다”며, “캠퍼스 개교 47년 동안 경주시와 시의회의 협조 덕분에 양적·질적으로 성장할 수 있었다. 앞으로도 지역과 함께 상생할 수 있는 실질적인 방안을 마련해 나가자”고 강조했다.

이동협 의장은 “류완하 총장 취임 이후 대학과 시의 적극적인 소통과 협력이 활발히 이루어지고 있다”며, “지역대학의 혁신은 곧 지역의 경쟁력이다. 의회에서도 대학과 함께 고민하고 나아가겠다”고 화답했다.

이날 간담회에는 이동협 의장을 비롯해 임활 부의장, 최재필 의회운영위원장 등 경주시의회 의원들과 김은락 시의회 사무국장을 포함한 관계자, 그리고 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 정책위원 등 40여 명이 참석해 활발한 의견을 나눴다.
