한덕수 대통령 권한대행 국무총리가 22일 '한·미 재무·통상장관 간 2+2 통합 협의' 관련해 "허심탄회한 대화·협력을 바탕으로 상호이익이 되는 해결책을 마련하는 물꼬를 틀 것"이라고 밝혔다.
한 대행은 이날 오전 서울 종로구 정부서울청사에서 열린 국무회의에서 "이번 만남은 우리와의 통상 관계 중요성을 고려한 미 측 제안으로 성사됐다"며 이같이 밝혔다. 최상목 부총리 겸 기획재정부 장관·안덕근 산업통상자원부 장관은 오는 24일 미국에서 열리는 양국 2+2 통상협의에 참석한다.
그러면서 지난주 한국원자력연구원이 미 미주리대로부터 '미주리대 연구로 초기 설계 계약'을 체결한 것에 대해 "원자력 종주국 미국에 역수출했다는 점에서 그 의미가 매우 크다"며 "한·미 간 과학기술 협력이 그간의 우려를 불식시키며 굳건히 이뤄지고 있음을 방증하는 사례"라고 평했다.
또 "한·미 양국 간 상호 이익이 되는 통상 협의·과학기술 협력 확대 등을 바탕으로 지난 72년간 세계에서 가장 모범적 동맹으로 발전해 온 한·미 동맹은 미래를 함께 준비하는 더욱 굳건한 동맹으로 발전해 나갈 것으로 확신한다"고 했다.
이어 "그동안 정부는 소상공인·자영업자 등 서민들 어려움을 조금이라도 덜어드리고 우리 기업들 경영난 완화를 위해 가용 가능한 자원을 총동원해 지원해왔다"며 "국민 공복으로서 어떤 어려움 속에서도 민생·대한민국 미래를 위해 단 한 순간도 소홀함 없이 혼신의 힘을 다해야 한다"고 각 부처 장관들에게 당부했다.
더불어 "12·29 여객기 참사 피해구제·지원 등을 위한 특별법이 오늘 국무회의 심의를 거쳐 공포된다"며 "관계 부처는 특별법에 포함된 내용이 그 취지에 맞게 내실 있고 속도감 있게 시행돼 유가족분들께 실질적 도움이 될 수 있도록 후속 조치에 만전을 기해 주시길 당부드린다"고 했다.
한 권한대행은 "경북·경남·울산 지역에서 발생한 대형 산불로 아직도 3700여명의 이재민께서 임시대피 시설에서 불편을 겪고 계시다"며 "각 부처에선 긴급경영안정자금 지원·축사 복구·농기계 무상임대 등 피해 주민들께 약속한 대책들을 하루라도 빨리 이행해 주시기 바란다"고 지시했다.
