브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 5월 2일 임시공휴일이 지정된다면 최장 6일의 황금 연휴를 즐길 수 있을 것이라는 직장인들의 바람이 사실상 물 건너갔다.
23일 정부 관계부처에 따르면 다음달 2일 임시공휴일 지정에 대해 현재까지도 검토조차 하지 않고 있다.
더욱이 5월 2일까지는 9일밖에 남지 않아 임시공휴일 지정을 위한 시간적 여유도 없다는 게 정부의 입장이다.
행정적으로만 본다면 국무회의에 안건을 상정해 의결하기만 하면 되기 때문에 불가능한 것은 아니다. 하지만 사전에 국민에게 관련 정보도 제공하지 않은 상태에서 갑자기 지정하는 것은 되려 부작용만 크게 키울 것이란 우려가 더 컸다.
인사혁신처 관계자는 "(임시공휴일 지정을) 검토하고 있지 않고, 검토된 바도 없다"며 "(지금 임시공휴일을 지정한다면) 국민들을 기만하는 행위가 될 수 있다"고 설명했다.
이 관계자는 이어 "바로 다음주에 지정한다고 발표하면 역효과만 나게 될 것이다. 전혀 있을 수 없는 일"이라고 강조했다.
