충남 논산시가 지난 3월 진행한 백성현 시장의 읍면동 순회 간담회에서 접수된 주민 건의사항에 대한 종합 검토를 마무리하고, 본격적인 사업 추진에 나선다고 29일 밝혔다.
시 관계자는 "이번에 접수된 총 166건의 숙원사업 중 상당수가 생활 기반시설 개선에 대한 요구였다"며 "신속히 추진 가능한 사업부터 착수해 주민 불편을 최소화하는 데 주력하고 있다"고 밝혔다.
주민들이 제안한 사업은 주로 도로 확·포장, 어르신 복지공간 신설, 재해 예방을 위한 응급복구 등 지역 밀착형 내용이 중심이었다. 이에 따라 시는 실무 부서를 중심으로 현장 확인을 실시하고, 건의자와의 면담 및 통화 등을 통해 사업의 타당성과 실현 가능성을 다각도로 검토했다.
검토 결과, 즉시 실행이 가능한 15건은 이미 완료됐으며, 배수로 정비, 방범용 CCTV 설치 등 88건은 현재 실행 단계에 들어간 상태다.
시 관계자는 "신속한 대응이 가능한 사안은 처리 속도를 높이고, 주민 의견을 반영해 우선순위를 조정했다"며 "중·장기 검토가 필요한 과제들도 순차적으로 대응해나갈 방침"이라고 설명했다.
다만, 사유지 보상 관련 법적 근거가 부족하거나, 안전 우려 및 법령 미충족 등의 사유로 현재 수용이 어려운 14건에 대해서는 주민들에게 충분한 설명과 함께 대체 방안을 제시하고 있다.
논산시는 오는 6월 중 건의사항 추진 현황을 점검하는 보고회를 열어, 사업별 진행 상황을 면밀히 확인하고 차질 없는 추진을 도모할 계획이다.
