세종시교육청이 지역 간 교육격차를 줄이고 공교육의 질을 높이기 위한 ‘교육균형발전’ 정책에 박차를 가하고 있다.
세종시교육청은 지난 30일 본청 중회의실에서 ‘2025년 교육균형발전위원회 정기회’를 열고, 올해 추진된 사업 성과를 점검하는 한편, 향후 보완 방향에 대한 심도 있는 논의를 진행했다.
이번 정기회는 ‘세종시교육청 교육균형발전 지원 조례’에 근거해 운영되는 정례 협의체로, 교육현장의 목소리를 정책에 반영하고 교육 불균형 해소를 위한 실질적인 방안을 모색하기 위해 마련됐다.
세종시교육청이 추진 중인 ‘교육균형발전사업’은 세종 교육과정의 상향 평준화 ,민주시민 및 진로 교육 강화 ,교육복지와 안전환경의 격차 해소 등 3대 방향 아래, 6대 중점과제와 19개의 세부과제로 구성돼 있다.
이날 회의에서는 지난 4월 1일 개최된 실무위원회 회의 결과를 바탕으로 ‘교육균형발전 1단계 기본계획’의 2024년도 추진 현황을 심의했다.
주요 안건은 총 1,272억 원이 투입된 관련 예산 집행 내역과 함께, 학생중심 성장평가 활성화 ,참여 중심 수업 확산 ,방과후학교 운영 확대 등 일부 세부과제의 성과지표 달성률에 대한 평가와 개선 방안 마련에 초점을 맞췄다.
미래기획관 박병관은 “교육균형발전사업은 단순한 예산 집행을 넘어, 교육적 소외가 발생하지 않도록 세심하게 접근해야 하는 과제”라며 “학생, 학교, 지역 간 차이를 줄이기 위해 정책 하나하나를 면밀히 검토하겠다”고 말했다.
