브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 삼성전자의 ‘갤럭시 S25’가 북미 재활용산업협회 ReMA(Recycled Materials Association)가 수여하는 ‘2025 ReMA 재활용 디자인 어워드(2025 Design for Recycling® Award)’를 수상한다.
‘재활용 디자인 어워드’는 2006년부터 북미 재활용산업협회가 수여하고 있는 재활용 분야의 권위 있는 상이다. △재활용 소재 적용 △생산 과정에서의 환경 영향 최소화 △제품의 재활용 용이성 △재활용 경제성 등을 종합 평가해 지속가능성 측면에서 최고 점수를 받은 제품에 수여된다.
올해는 재활용 소재 활용을 확대하고 자원 소비를 최소화하기 위한 삼성전자의 노력이 높은 점수를 얻어, ‘갤럭시 S25’가 수상작으로 선정됐다.
삼성전자는 파트너사들과 함께 그동안 버려졌던 갤럭시 스마트폰의 폐배터리에서 핵심 소재인 코발트 등을 회수해 다시 활용하는 ‘배터리 재활용 순환 체계(Circular Battery Supply Chain)’를 구축하고 이를 갤럭시 S25에 적용했다.
또한, 갤럭시 S25에는 알루미늄, 희토류, 철 등 총 8가지 재활용 소재가 활용됐다.
갤럭시 S25에는 측면 프레임에 재활용 아머 알루미늄이 적용돼, 갤럭시 시리즈 최초로 모든 외장 부품에 재활용 소재가 적용됐다. 제품 포장 박스도 100% 재활용 종이로 만들어졌다.
이 외에도 삼성전자는 소비자가 제품을 스스로 수리할 수 있도록 지원하는 ‘자가 수리 프로그램’을 통해 제품 수명 연장과 전자 폐기물 저감을 위해 노력하고 있다.
삼성전자는 장기적으로 2027년까지 해외 사업장과 DX 부문의 전체 사업장을 재생에너지 100%로 전환하는 목표를 추진하고 있다. 2030년까지 모바일 제품의 전 모듈에 최소 한 가지의 재활용 소재 적용을 목표로 하고 있다.
