성화 채화에 앞서 열린 고유제(告由祭)에는 송호준 경주시 부시장이 초헌관, 임활 경주시의회 부의장이 아헌관, 박흔구 경주시체육회 부회장이 종헌관으로 참여해 도민체전의 성공과 경북도민의 화합과 번영을 기원했다.
채화된 성화는 박기환 경주시체육회 부회장을 포함한 8명의 주자가 석굴암 통일대종 종각에서 주차장 매표소 구간까지 봉송한 뒤, 차량을 통해 김천으로 이송됐다.
성화는 김천 직지사 사명대사공원에서 김천시 자체 채화 성화와 합화된 후, 김천시청에 임시 안치되었다가, 9일 김천종합운동장에서 열리는 개회식에서 성화대에 점화되어 대회 기간 동안 도민의 열정과 화합의 상징으로 타오르게 된다.
‘행복도시 김천에서 함께 뛰는 경북시대’를 슬로건으로 내건 이번 도민체전은 9일부터 12일까지 나흘간 김천시 전역에서 열린다.
경주시는 여준기 경주시체육회장을 선수단장으로 총 30개 종목에 897명의 선수단을 파견했으며, 시부 종합 3위 달성을 목표로 열띤 경쟁과 선의의 승부를 펼칠 예정이다.
