한국자유총연맹(총재 강석호)은 5월13일치 보도자료에서 “신임 사무총장에 박태우 사무총장 직무대리 겸 자유통일연구원장이 임명됐다”고 알렸다.

이 자료에 따르면, 연맹은 5월 9일 대전 유성구에 있는 대전 라마다호텔에서 제4차 이사회를 열고 박태우 사무총장 직무대리 겸 자유통일연구원장의 신임 사무총장 임명을 승인했다. 박태우 신임 사무총장은 영국 헐대 정치학박사 학위 취득 후 한국외국어대학교 국제지역대학원 초빙교수, 고려대학교 연구교수를 역임했으며, 한국자유총연맹에서 사무총장 직무대리와 자유통일연구원장을 맡아왔다.
박태우 신임 사무총장은 “앞으로 한국자유총연맹이 자유민주주의와 안보 지킴이 역할에 충실할 수 있도록 사무총장으로서 최선을 다할 것”이라며, “연맹 산하 17개 시도지부, 228개 시군구지회, 3,300여 읍면동위원회와 함께 단합과 소통을 최우선으로 대한민국 미래의 발전을 위한 희망찬 비전을 그려나가겠다”라고 포부를 밝혔다.
5월 12일 연맹 본부에서 임명장을 전달받은 박태우 신임 사무총장은 곧바로 한국자유총연맹 사무총장으로서의 업무를 시작했다.
