개헌론을 주장해온 정대철 헌정회장은 축사에서 “민주주의의 기본 원칙은 서로 다름을 이해하는 것에서 시작한다”면서 “진보와 보수가 서로 부족한 점을 이해하고 보완하는 선진적인 정치문화를 이루어야 한다”고 강조했다. 정 회장은 이어 “줄탄핵,거부권 같은 힘의 논리를 자제해야 한다”면서 “중도정치를 통해 상생,협치,통합을 이루며 선진적 정치문화를 이루어야 한다”고 말했다. 이어서 등단한 민주당의 특보단장인 5선의 안규백 의원은 “나라의 명운이 걸린 대통령 선거를 앞두고 양극단의 정치환경하에서 중도가 중심을 잡고 포용력을 발휘해야 한다”면서 “여야를 떠나 주인의식을 갖고 정치에 적극적으로 참여해야 할 시점”이라고 강조했다.

국민의힘 6선 조경태 의원은 “대한민국은 늦었지만 지금이라도 중도정치를 추구하고 자리를 잡아야 한다”면서 “그래야 대한민국의 미래가 밝아지고 국민으로부터 존경받는 정치인들이 더욱 힘을 받아 현실적인 정치, 실용적인 정치를 주구할 수 있다”고 말했다. 조 의원은 새롭게 시작되는 중도포럼을 통해 대한민국의 발전적인 토대가 되기를 당부한다며 축하의 메시지를 전했다. 최근 국민의힘에 영입되어 당내 대선 후보 경선에 참여했고 지금은 공동선대 위원장을 맡고 있는 양향자 전 의원은 “국민의힘이 대선에서 승리하려면 맨 먼저 윤석열 전 대통령의 계엄령 선포에 대한 진솔한 대국민사과와 함께 가슴에서 우러나오는 반성, 그리고 국민 피부와 와 닿는 대선정책이 뒤따라야 한다”고 힘주어 말했다.
