국립심포니콘서트오케스트라가 세종시에 둥지를 튼다.
15일 세종시에 따르면 다음달 문화체육관광부, 국립심포니콘서트오케스트라단과 유치 협약(MOU)을 체결할 예정이라고 밝혔다.
국립심포니콘서트오케스트라는 올해 신설된 국립청년예술단체로, 지휘자와 시즌단원 50명 내외로 구성된다.
이들은 세종시에서 전액 국비 지원을 받아 공연예술을 창작·제작하고 정기 공연을 선보일 예정이다.
앞서 시는 지난달 진행된 국립청년예술단 지역 신설을 위한 문화체육관광부 공모에 세종예술의전당 등 문화예술 기반시설과 지리적 이점을 내세워 참여했다.
시는 이번 국립심포니콘서트오케스트라 유치에 성공하면서 지역 내 청년예술인들의 창작 활동 기반이 마련되고 시민들의 공연예술 향유 기회가 확대될 것으로 기대하고 있다.
앞으로 국내 최고 수준의 공연시설인 세종예술의전당을 중심으로 공연장·연습실·사무실 제공, 적극적인 운영 협력을 통해 국립심포니콘서트오케스트라의 안정적인 활동이 가능하도록 지원한다는 계획이다.
국립심포니콘서트오케스트라는 오는 6월 단원 오디션 이후 올해 하반기 정식으로 창단될 예정이다.
김려수 문화체육관광국장은 “이번 협약은 세종시가 문화예술 도시로 발돋움하는 중요한 동력이 될 것”이라며 “세종시가 재능있는 청년예술인들이 꿈을 펼치는 공연예술 거점으로 거듭날 수 있도록 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
