김해시는 지난 14일부터 17일까지 중국 광저우에서 열린 광저우 국제관광전에 참가해 2027년 TPO(글로벌도시관광진흥기구) 총회 유치 홍보 활동을 펼쳤다고 19일 밝혔다.
최근 김해시와 경남도는 2027년 열리는 제13차 TPO 총회 유치를 선언했다. TPO는 2002년 개최된 제5회 아시아·태평양도시 정상회의(APCS)에서 주요 도시 간 교류와 관광산업 발전을 목적으로 창설한 국제기구다. 13개국 25개 도시로 출범해 지금은 131개 도시, 57개 민간 회원을 두고 있다.
광저우 국제관광전은 아시아 최대 규모의 관광 박람회 중 하나로 매년 전 세계에서 다양한 국가와 도시들이 관광 관련 산업과 협력을 확대하는 중요한 행사다.
김해시는 경남도, 경남도 해외사무소 직원과 함께 참가해 TPO 회원 도시별로 맞춤형으로 TPO 집행위원회와 중국 지역회의에 참석해 회원 도시 국가 언어로 제작된 홍보물과 영상을 배포하고 1대1 대면 마케팅 등 적극적인 총회 유치 활동을 벌였다.

김해시는 국제 우호 도시인 중국 다롄시의 공식 초청을 받아 다롄시 대표 축제인 ‘다롄 아카시아 축제’에 배선영 문화관광국장을 단장으로 한 공식 대표단과 가야 전통공연단을 파견했다고 19일 밝혔다.

중국 랴오닝성 랴오둥반도 남단부에 위치한 다롄시는 인구 약 750만명, 1만3,237㎢ 면적으로 중국 동북 3성의 대표적인 항만도시이자 대외 교역의 관문으로 알려진 전략적 요충지다.
이번 방문은 지난 4월 김해시에서 열린 ‘2025 가야문화축제’에 다롄시가 대표단과 예술공연단을 파견한 것에 대한 답방 성격으로, 양 도시 간 우호 증진이 기대된다.
