【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=한국수력원자력(주) 월성원자력본부(본부장 정원호)는 5월 16일 경주시 양남면 읍천2리 마을회관에서 ‘100세 장수마을 인증사업’을 진행했다.

‘100세 장수마을 인증사업’은 2024년 월성본부가 처음 시행한 사업으로, 발전소 인근 지역 내 100세 이상 장수 어르신이 거주하는 마을을 방문해 축하 선물 증정 및 마을 잔치 지원 등을 통해 어르신들의 건강과 장수를 기원하는 취지로 마련되었다.
올해 동경주 지역 7개 마을에서 총 7명의 100세 이상 장수 어르신을 찾아뵙고 인증사업을 펼치며, 원전 인근 주민들의 건강에 대한 우려 해소에 앞장서고 있다.
이번 행사에서는 올해 100세를 맞이한 양남면 읍천2리의 김연심 어르신을 축하하는 자리가 마련됐다.
정원호 월성원자력본부장은 “어르신의 건강한 모습을 뵈어 감사드리며, 지역 주민 모두가 건강하게 100세까지 생활할 수 있도록 월성본부가 함께 노력하겠다”고 전했다.
김연심 어르신은 “내 백수를 많은 분들이 축하해주셔서 진심으로 감사하다”고 소감을 밝혔으며, 첫째 아들 한경완 씨는 “30여 년간 동경주 바다에서 힘든 해녀 일을 하시며 자녀들을 훌륭히 키워주신 어머니를 위해 이런 자리를 마련해준 월성본부에 깊이 감사드린다”고 말했다.
한편, 월성원자력본부는 주민 건강검진, 취약계층 치료비 지원, 방사선에 대한 주민 이해도 향상을 위한 앱 개발 등 주민 체감도가 높은 사업을 적극 추진하고 있으며, 앞으로도 지역과의 상생 발전을 위해 노력할 계획이다.

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Wolseong Nuclear Power Headquarters (Director Won-ho Jeong) conducted the ‘100-year-old Longevity Village Certification Project’ at the Eupcheon 2-ri Village Hall in Yangnam-myeon, Gyeongju-si on May 16.
The ‘100-year-old Longevity Village Certification Project’ is a project first implemented by Wolseong Headquarters in 2024. It was created to visit villages where elderly people over 100 years old live in the vicinity of power plants and wish them health and longevity by providing congratulatory gifts and supporting village feasts.
This year, we visited a total of 7 elderly people over 100 years old in 7 villages in the Donggyeongju area and conducted certification projects, taking the lead in resolving concerns about the health of residents near nuclear power plants.
This event was held to celebrate the 100th birthday of Ms. Kim Yeon-sim of Eupcheon 2-ri, Yangnam-myeon.
Director Jeong Won-ho of Wolseong Nuclear Power Plant said, “I am grateful to see the healthy appearance of the elderly, and Wolseong Nuclear Power Plant will work together so that all local residents can live healthily until they are 100 years old.”
Ms. Kim Yeon-sim said, “I am sincerely grateful to the many people who congratulated me on my 100th birthday,” and her eldest son, Han Gyeong-wan, said, “I am deeply grateful to Wolseong Nuclear Power Plant for providing this event for my mother who worked hard as a female diver in the sea of Donggyeongju for 30 years and raised her children well.”
Meanwhile, Wolseong Nuclear Power Plant is actively promoting projects that are highly perceived by residents, such as health checkups for residents, support for treatment costs for the vulnerable, and development of apps to improve residents’ understanding of radiation, and plans to continue to strive for mutual growth with the local community in the future.
