이주호 대통령 권한대행 부총리 겸 교육부 장관이 20일 "선거관리위원회·정부 모두가 한마음으로 공정하고 투명한 선거 관리란 책무를 다해야 한다"고 밝혔다. 오는 제21대 6·3 대선을 2주 앞두고 공정·투명한 선거 관리를 강조한 것이다.

이어 이날 상정된 '상증세법 개정안' 관련해선 "1950년 상속세법 제정 이후 75년 만에 정부안 발의를 통해 상속 체계 개편 논의를 본격 시작하게 됐다"고 했다.
더불어 "상속세 과세 관점을 피상속인에서 상속인으로 바꾸는 근본적 변화를 통해 과세 형평성을 높이고 중산층·다자녀 가구 세 부담을 덜어준다는 측면에서 상속세 제도의 중요 분기점이 될 것"이라고 했다.
정부의 '상증세법 개정안'은 상속세를 총 상속액이 아닌 상속인별 취득 유산에 과세하는 유산취득세로 전환하는 게 골자인 가운데 자녀 공제를 확대하는 내용 등이 포함됐다.
