[브레이크뉴스=정철규 기자] 진주시가 오는 5월 22일 개막하는 「2025 서울국제정원박람회」를 앞두고, 서울 보라매공원 내 박람회장에 지역의 정체성과 자연미를 담은 교류정원을 조성했다.
이번 정원은‘진주같은 정원, 정원 속의 진주’를 주제로 총 245㎡ 규모로 진주시의 자연적 특색과 역사·문화를 정원 공간에 녹여낸 것이 특징이다.
또 시는 진주시의 대표 캐릭터 ‘하모’를 정원 내 배치하고, 남강의 물줄기를 형상화한 곡선형 동선을 통해 도심 속 자연의 흐름을 표현했다.
또한 진주시는 측백나무를 활용해 진주성의 이미지를 구현하며 역사적 상징성도 더했다.
이번 정원 조성은 진주시와 서울시가 지난 4월 1일 체결한 ‘우호 교류정원 조성 업무협약’의 일환으로 상호 정원산업 발전과 교류 활성화를 도모하기 위한 첫걸음이다.
서울시는 오는 6월 진주에서 개최되는 ‘2025 대한민국 정원산업박람회’에 참가해 ‘도시의 숨은 쉼표, 마음의 후원(後苑) ; 남산’을 주제로 교류정원을 조성할 계획이다.
