브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= 한국마사회는 지난 21일 렛츠런파크 서울에서 농축산업 발전을 위한 주요 재원인 축산발전기금 전달식을 개최했다고 밝혔다.
한국마사회는 축산발전기금으로 총 1188억 원을 출연했고, 이번 전달식을 통해 축산발전기금 사무국에 전달했다.
이날 전달식 행사에는 한국마사회 정기환 회장과 축산발전기금 조명관 사무국장을 비롯해, 한국농축산연합회 이승호 회장 및 축산발전기금의 출연을 환영하는 농축산단체 및 관계자 등 총 20여명이 참석했다.
축발기금은 축산법에 근거해 출연하는 농림축산식품부 운영기금으로 축산업의 경쟁력 제고, 축산기술 보급 등 국내 축산업 발전을 위해 활용된다. 축발기금의 재원은 정부의 보조금 및 출연금, 축산물 수입이익금, 자체 수익금 등이며 이중 한국마사회의 납입금이 가장 큰 비중을 차지하고 있다.
한국마사회는 경마 사업 등을 통해 벌어들인 이익잉여금의 70%를 매년 축발기금으로 납입하며, 기금이 설치된 1974년부터 올해까지 총 3조3000억원 이상을 납부해왔다.
한국마사회 정기환 회장은 “온라인 발매 활성화 노력 등을 통한 경마 저변 확대와 자산 효율화 등 경영 혁신을 통해 어려운 여건 속에서도 1188억원의 축산발전기금을 출연할 수 있게 됐다”며 “앞으로도 온라인 발매 확대 등 지속적인 경영혁신 노력을 통해 정부 재정 기여와 함께 국민들의 삶의질 제고를 위해 노력하겠다”고 말했다.
