서울 보라매공원 한복판에 ‘디지털 숲’이 들어섰다. 나무 냄새도, 바람 소리도, 잎이 흔들리는 모습도 모두 가상이지만 그 위로 흐르는 감정은 ‘진짜’다. 힐링, 그리고 회복.
핀테크 기업 두나무가 서울국제정원박람회에 야심차게 전시관을 선보였다. 이름하여 ‘세컨 포레스트: 디지털 치유정원’. 이곳은 단순한 테크 전시관이 아니다. 도시의 일상에 지친 이들에게 숨쉴 틈을, 자연의 결핍을 느끼는 사람에게 위로를 건네는 새로운 형태의 정원이다.
디지털과 정원이 무슨 상관이냐고? 상관 있다. 아주 많다.
가상 숲, 블록체인으로 심다
두나무의 디지털 치유정원은 ICT 기술, 미디어 파사드, 블록체인, NFT까지 얽혀 만들어진 복합 예술 공간이다. 말 그대로 ‘몰입형 정원’이란 말이 아깝지 않다. 고화질 LED와 사운드, 그리고 향기까지 활용해 관람객의 오감을 사로잡는다.
‘디지털 치유정원’은 세 가지 테마를 따라 걸을 수 있다. ‘고요한 숲’, ‘따뜻한 숲’, ‘숨 쉬는 숲’. 길을 따라 걷다 보면 어느새 내 안의 온도도 바뀌어 있다.
특히 정원의 디자인은 ‘블록체인 구조’에서 영감을 받아 선형의 레이어가 끊임없이 확장되는 매트릭스를 따른다. 이 구조 속을 걷다 보면 도시의 시간과 숲의 시간이 절묘하게 엇갈린다.
“NFT로 나무를 심는다고?”
이 정원은 두나무의 대표 ESG 프로젝트인 ‘세컨 포레스트 캠페인’의 리브랜딩 버전이다. 과거 메타버스에서 가상 나무를 심으면 실제 산불 피해 지역에 나무를 심어주는 방식으로 큰 반향을 얻었던 바로 그 캠페인.
이번엔 ‘시드볼트 NFT 컬렉션 시즌 3’과 연계된다. NFT로 씨앗을 수집하면, 그 기금은 실제 자생식물 보전에 쓰인다. 시즌 1에는 신구대 식물원에, 시즌 2에는 진해 보타닉 뮤지엄에 각각 희귀종 식물이 식재됐다. 시즌 3 보전지는 ‘보라매공원’이 될 예정이다.
NFT 참여 이벤트도 놓치지 말자. 6월 30일까지 현장 참여자에게 나만의 ‘치유 씨앗 NFT’를 증정하고, SNS 해시태그 이벤트를 통해 룸 스프레이도 받을 수 있다. 설문만 작성해도 귀여운 ‘덕상이’ 캐릭터 굿즈가 제공된다.
다 함께 만드는 ‘힐링 실험실’
두나무는 ‘디지털 치유정원’을 단순한 전시관이 아니라 ‘디지털 힐링 플랫폼’으로 발전시킬 계획이다. 6월엔 심리, 재활, 의학 분야 전문가들과 대학생을 대상으로 ‘치유 프로그램 공모전’도 연다. 선정작은 파일럿 프로그램으로 현장에서 운영되고, 반응이 좋으면 소방서나 병원 등에도 확대 적용된다.
기술로 사람을 따뜻하게 만들 수 있을까? 두나무의 색다른 실험은 지금, 서울의 숲 속에서 조용히 진행 중이다.
“일상에 지친 이 위한 0.5도 회복”
두나무 이석우 대표는 “디지털 치유정원이 서울 시민들에게 작지만 따뜻한 위로가 되길 바란다”고 밝혔다.
기술은 때로 차갑게 느껴질 수 있지만, 이를 통해 전해지는 감정은 오히려 깊고 따뜻하다. 누군가는 NFT를 통해 참여하고, 누군가는 숲의 향을 느끼며, 또 다른 이는 조용히 그 자리에 머문다. 방식은 달라도 누구나 자신의 방식대로 이 가상 숲을 경험한다.
지금 서울 한복판에는, 디지털이라는 이름으로 자연을 닮은 새로운 쉼터가 조용히 자리 잡고 있다.

In the heart of Seoul's Boramae Park, a "digital forest" has emerged. Though the scent of trees, the sound of wind, and the swaying of leaves are all virtual, the emotions they evoke are undeniably real: healing and restoration.
Fintech company Dunamu has unveiled an ambitious exhibition at the Seoul International Garden Fair, aptly named "Second Forest: Digital Healing Garden." This is no mere tech exhibit; it's a new kind of garden offering a respite to those exhausted by city life and comfort to those who feel a lack of nature.
What's the connection between digital technology and a garden, you ask? A lot, in fact.
A Virtual Forest, Planted with Blockchain
Dunamu's Digital Healing Garden is a complex art space interwoven with ICT technology, media facades, blockchain, and NFTs. The term "immersive garden" truly doesn't do it justice. High-definition LED screens, sound, and even scent are used to captivate visitors' five senses.
The "Digital Healing Garden" allows you to walk through three distinct themes: "Tranquil Forest," "Warm Forest," and "Breathing Forest." As you follow the path, you'll find the temperature within yourself subtly changing.
Notably, the garden's design is inspired by a blockchain structure, following a matrix where linear layers continuously expand. Walking through this structure, the city's time and the forest's time exquisitely intertwine.
"Planting Trees with NFTs?"
This garden is a rebranded version of Dunamu's flagship ESG project, the "Second Forest Campaign." This campaign previously garnered significant attention for its initiative to plant real trees in wildfire-damaged areas when virtual trees were planted in the metaverse.
This iteration is linked to the "Seed Vault NFT Collection Season 3." By collecting seeds as NFTs, the funds are used for the actual preservation of native plants. In Season 1, rare plant species were planted at Shingu University Botanical Garden, and in Season 2, at the Jinhae Botanic Museum. The preservation site for Season 3 will be Boramae Park.

A Collaborative "Healing Lab"
Dunamu plans to develop the "Digital Healing Garden" from a mere exhibition space into a "digital healing platform." In June, they will also host a "Healing Program Contest" for experts in psychology, rehabilitation, and medicine, as well as university students. The selected programs will be run as pilot initiatives on-site, and if successful, they will be expanded to places like fire stations and hospitals.
Can technology truly warm people's hearts? Dunamu's unique experiment is quietly unfolding now, within a forest in Seoul.

Dunamu CEO Lee Seok-woo stated, "We hope the Digital Healing Garden provides a small but warm comfort to the citizens of Seoul."
Technology can sometimes feel cold, but the emotions conveyed through it can be profoundly deep and warm. Some participate through NFTs, others experience the scent of the forest, and still others simply linger in the space. Though the methods differ, everyone experiences this virtual forest in their own way.
Currently, in the heart of Seoul, a new resting place resembling nature, under the guise of digital technology, is quietly taking root.
