한수원 월성본부, 에너지 취약계층 위한 ‘e-안심하우스’ 준공식 개최

【브레이크뉴스 경주】박희경 기자=한국수력원자력(주) 월성원자력본부(본부장 정원호)는 5월 22일 경주시 동천동 소재 복지시설 ‘무료급식마당 이웃집’에서 에너지 효율 개선 사업 ‘e-안심하우스’의 준공식을 개최했다.

이날 행사에는 정원호 본부장과 장규식 한국에너지재단 팀장, 수혜 기관인 ‘이웃집’의 신대명 국장이 참석해 현장을 둘러보고 사업 완료를 기념하는 현판을 부착했다.

‘e-안심하우스’는 발전소 주변지역의 에너지 취약계층을 대상으로 단열 보강, 창호 및 보일러 교체, LED 조명 설치 등 고효율 설비를 시공해 주거환경을 개선하고 에너지 절감을 지원하는 사업이다. 이 사업은 한국수력원자력, 한국에너지재단, 한국에너지기술연구원이 지난 2023년 업무협약을 통해 공동 추진해오고 있다.

한수원은 지난해 총 20억 원을 투입해 전국 298가구와 13개 복지시설을 지원했다. 경주 지역에서는 취약계층 43가구와 3개 복지시설이 혜택을 받았으며, 이로 인해 냉난방 비용 절감은 물론 실내 환경 개선을 통한 삶의 질 향상에 기여하고 있다.

한국에너지기술연구원의 분석 결과, 수혜 가구의 에너지 비용은 이전보다 약 36% 감소했으며, 이는 가구당 연간 249그루의 나무를 심은 것과 같은 탄소 절감 효과와 맞먹는 것으로 나타났다.

신대명 국장은 “공사 후 시설 환경이 크게 개선되어 어르신들이 매우 만족하고 있다”며 “매년 지역 복지에 관심을 갖고 지원을 아끼지 않는 한수원 월성본부에 깊이 감사드린다”고 소감을 전했다.

정원호 본부장은 “이번 개선 사업으로 어르신들이 더 따뜻하고 쾌적한 환경에서 식사하실 수 있게 되어 매우 뜻깊게 생각한다”며 “앞으로도 지역사회의 에너지 취약계층을 위해 지속적인 지원과 동행을 이어가겠다”고 밝혔다.

 Hanwha Solutions Wolseong Headquarters Holds Completion Ceremony for ‘e-Safe House’ for Energy-Vulnerable Groups

Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. Wolseong Nuclear Power Headquarters (CEO Won-ho Jeong) held a completion ceremony for the energy efficiency improvement project ‘e-Safe House’ at the welfare facility ‘Free Meal Yard Neighborhood’ located in Dongcheon-dong, Gyeongju-si on May 22.

CEO Won-ho Jeong, Team Leader Gyu-sik Jang of the Korea Energy Foundation, and Director Dae-myeong Shin of the beneficiary organization ‘Neighborhood’ attended the event to tour the site and attach a signboard to commemorate the completion of the project.

‘e-Safe House’ is a project to improve the living environment and support energy savings by constructing high-efficiency facilities such as insulation reinforcement, window and boiler replacement, and LED lighting installation for energy-vulnerable groups in areas around power plants. This project has been jointly promoted by Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power, Korea Energy Foundation, and Korea Institute of Energy Research through a business agreement in 2023.

Last year, Hanwha Solutions invested a total of 2 billion won to support 298 households and 13 welfare facilities nationwide. In the Gyeongju area, 43 vulnerable households and 3 welfare facilities benefited, contributing to the improvement of quality of life through reduction in heating and cooling costs as well as improvement of indoor environment.

According to the analysis results of the Korea Institute of Energy Research, the energy costs of the beneficiary households decreased by approximately 36% compared to before, which is equivalent to the carbon reduction effect of planting 249 trees per household per year.

Director Shin Dae-myeong said, “The facility environment has greatly improved after the construction, and the seniors are very satisfied,” and added, “I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Hanwha Solutions Wolseong Headquarters, which has shown interest in local welfare and spares no support every year.”

Director Jeong Won-ho said, “I think it is very meaningful that the seniors can eat in a warmer and more comfortable environment thanks to this improvement project,” and added, “We will continue to provide continuous support and companionship for the energy vulnerable in the local community.”
