김해시는 지난 24일 순천향대학교 중앙의료원 및 부속 서울병원, 주한 캄보디아 대사관, 김해외국인근로자지원센터와 협력해 김해시와 김해 인근에 거주하는 캄보디아 근로자를 대상으로 무료 건강검진을 실시했다고 26일 밝혔다.
김해시에서 진행한 이번 무료 건강검진은 주한 캄보디아 대사관이 지원을 요청해 이뤄졌으며 김해시보건소에서 장소 대관 등 행사 전반을 추진했다.
김해시보건소와 김해외국인근로자지원센터 직원이 안전·질서 유지 등 현장 지원을, 순천향대학교 부속 서울병원 의료진 20여 명이 진료 지원을 담당했으며, 해당 검진은 한국국제보건의료재단(KOFIH)의 지원으로 도입된 이동건강검진 차량을 활용하였으며, 차량 운영은 경희의료원이 맡았다.
홍태용 김해시장은 “시간 부족과 경제적인 어려움으로 평소 의료 서비스를 받기가 어려운 외국인 근로자의 건강과 행복한 일상을 위한 기회를 마련할 수 있어서 뜻있는 시간이었다”며 “앞으로도 다양한 국적의 주민들이 건강하고 조화롭게 살아갈 수 있는 환경을 조성하여 포용적인 지역사회를 만들어 나가겠다”고 밝혔다.
