브레이크뉴스 정명훈 기자= 전국 법관 대표들이 모여 이재명 더불어민주당 대선 후보의 공직선거법 사건 상고심 선고 논란에 대해 논의했으나 결론을 내지 못했다.
법관대표회의는 각급 법원에서 선출된 대표 판사들이 모여 사법행정에 관한 의견이나 요구사항을 수렴하는 회의체다.
전국법관대표회의는 26일 오전 경기 고양시 사법연수원에서 2시간 가량 임시회의를 진행한 이후 다음 회의를 속행하기로 했다고 밝혔다.
이날 임시회의에는 구성원 126명 중 88명이 출석했다.
한 법관대표회의 관계자에 따르면 이날 회의에선 의장인 김예영 서울남부지법 판사가 제안한 안건 2건에 대해 논의했다.
상정된 안건은 "민주국가에서 재판독립은 절대적으로 보장되어야 할 가치임을 확인함과 동시에 그 바탕인 재판의 공정성과 사법의 민주적 책임성을 준수하기 위해 노력할 것을 밝힌다"는 것이다.
또 다른 하나의 안건은 "특정 사건의 이례적 절차 진행으로 사법 독립의 바탕이 되는 사법에 대한 신뢰가 흔들린 것을 심각하게 인식하고 개별 재판을 이유로 한 각종 책임 추궁과 제도의 변경이 재판독립을 침해할 가능성에 대해 깊이 우려한다"는 내용이다.
이재명 후보 사건과 관련해선 '특정 사건에 대한 대법원의 전례 없는 절차 진행으로 사법부의 정치적 중립성과 절차적 정당성에 대한 의심을 불러일으킴으로써 사법부에 대한 불신을 초래한 점에 대해 깊은 유감을 표한다', '이번 대법원 전원합의체 판결이 사법부의 신뢰에 대한 부정적 영향을 미친 상황에 대해 엄중히 인식한다'는 등의 내용이 안건에 포함됐다.
관계자는 "이번 회의에선 상정된 안건에 대한 표결은 진행하지 않았다"면서 "다음 회의에서 보충 토론을 진행한 후 표결할 계획이며 다음 회의는 원격회의 방식으로 진행된다"고 전했다.
이어 "다음 회의 날짜에 대해선 구성원들의 의견을 수렴해 결정되는데, 대선 이후로 지정될 예정"이라고 설명했다.

The National Judges' Representative Conference announced that it decided to proceed with the next meeting after holding a temporary meeting for about two hours at the Judicial Research and Training Institute in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do on the morning of the 26th.

According to a judges' representative conference official, the meeting discussed two agenda items proposed by the chairperson, Judge Kim Ye-young of the Seoul Southern District Court.
The proposed agenda is “We confirm that judicial independence is a value that must be absolutely guaranteed in a democratic country, and at the same time, we declare that we will strive to comply with the fairness of trials and democratic accountability of the judiciary, which are its foundations.”
Another agenda is “We seriously recognize that trust in the judiciary, which is the foundation of judicial independence, has been shaken by the unusual procedure of a specific case, and we are deeply concerned about the possibility that various demands for accountability and changes to the system based on individual trials may infringe upon judicial independence.”
In relation to the Lee Jae-myung case, the agenda included the following: “We express deep regret that the Supreme Court’s unprecedented procedure for a specific case has raised doubts about the political neutrality and procedural legitimacy of the judiciary, thereby causing distrust in the judiciary,” and “We are gravely aware of the negative impact this Supreme Court full bench ruling has had on trust in the judiciary.”
The official said, "There was no vote on the agenda items at this meeting," and added, "We plan to hold a vote after a supplementary discussion at the next meeting, and the next meeting will be held via a remote conference." He continued, "The date of the next meeting will be decided after gathering the opinions of the members, and it will be designated after the presidential election."
