최민호 세종시장이 “행정수도 세종의 완성은 단순한 도시 개발을 넘어 국가의 지속 가능한 미래를 위한 전략적 선택”이라며 전국 광역자치단체의 적극적인 지지를 요청했다.
최 시장은 5월 26일 서울 여의도에서 열린 대한민국시도지사협의회 제18대 임원단 간담회에 부회장 자격으로 참석해, 행정수도 완성과 지방분권 종합타운 조성 등 핵심 현안에 대한 의견을 제시했다.
이날 간담회에는 유정복 인천광역시장(협의회장), 박완수 경남도지사(부회장), 강기정 광주시장(감사) 등 임원단이 참석해 민선 지방자치 30주년을 맞아 지방분권과 균형발전 방안을 논의했다.
최 시장은 간담회에서 수도권 집중화로 인한 지방소멸 위기와 저출생 등 국가적 난제를 언급하며, 이를 타개하기 위한 핵심 해법으로 ‘행정수도 세종 완성’을 강조했다.

‘지방분권 종합타운’에는 시도지사협의회, 지방시대위원회, 지방자치 행정연구기관 등 주요 지방자치 협의체와 기관을 집적화해 진정한 지방분권의 거점이자 국가균형발전의 상징으로 삼겠다는 계획이다.
