이번 훈련은 행정안전부의 안전한국훈련 기본계획에 따라 진행되었으며, 중저준위 방사성폐기물 처분시설에서 집중호우로 인한 토사 붕괴 및 강풍에 따른 시설물 피해와 인명 사고 발생 상황을 가정해 대응 역량을 집중 점검했다.
훈련에는 경주시, 경주소방서, 경주경찰서, 동국대학교 경주병원 등 10개 유관기관 관계자 80여 명이 참여하여, 실제 재난 상황을 가정한 현장 중심의 훈련을 통해 유관기관 간 긴밀한 협조체계와 대응 절차를 점검했다.
특히 이번 훈련에서는 통신두절 상황을 대비해 PS-LTE(재난안전통신망)를 활용, 공단 본사와 현장 상황실 간의 신속한 정보 공유 및 지휘 체계 유지 능력을 강화했다.
조성돈 한국원자력환경공단 이사장은 “기후변화로 인해 재난이 더욱 빈번하고 복합적으로 발생하는 상황에서, 공단은 선제적 대응과 유관기관과의 유기적인 협력을 통해 국민의 안전을 최우선으로 지켜나가겠다”며, 재난 대응체계의 실효성을 높이기 위한 노력을 지속하겠다고 밝혔다.

About 80 people from 10 related organizations, including Gyeongju City, Gyeongju Fire Station, Gyeongju Police Station, and Dongguk University Gyeongju Hospital, participated in the training, and checked the close cooperation system and response procedures between related organizations through field-centered training assuming an actual disaster situation.
In particular, in this training, PS-LTE (Public Safety LTE) was utilized to prepare for communication outages, strengthening the ability to quickly share information and maintain a command system between the headquarters and the field situation room.
Cho Seong-don, Chairman of the Korea Radioactive Waste Agency, said, “In a situation where disasters are occurring more frequently and complexly due to climate change, the Agency will protect the safety of the people as a top priority through preemptive response and organic cooperation with related organizations,” and announced that efforts will continue to increase the effectiveness of the disaster response system.
