‘고교교육 기여대학 지원사업’은 대학이 고교교육을 충실히 반영하고, 공정하고 투명한 대입 전형을 운영함으로써 학생의 입시 부담을 완화하고 고교교육의 질적 향상을 도모하기 위해 2014년부터 시행되고 있는 정부 지원 사업이다. 이번에 선정된 전국 92개 대학은 기본 사업비로 총 538억 원(대학당 약 5억8000만 원)을 지원받게 된다.
동국대 WISE캠퍼스는 고교학점제의 안착과 자기주도적 학습 문화를 유도하는 전형 운영, 고교 연계 활동의 성과, 그리고 향후 실행계획이 우수하다는 평가를 받아 이번 사업에 이름을 올렸다.
특히 경주에 위치한 동국대 WISE캠퍼스는 포항, 영천, 영덕 등 인근 지역 교육청 및 고등학교와의 밀착 협력을 통해 지역 고교교육과 고등교육을 잇는 중심 축으로 자리매김하고 있다. 이는 경상북도형 RISE(지역혁신중심 대학지원체계) 사업 및 교육혁신지원사업에서도 일관되게 추진해온 방향이다.
강종임 동국대 WISE캠퍼스 입학처장은 “대구·경북 지역은 비수도권 중 가장 많은 대학이 있음에도 불구하고, 대다수가 대구 인근에 몰려 있어 경북 동남권 고등학교의 고등교육 접근성에는 여전히 한계가 있다”며 “동국대 WISE캠퍼스는 고교학점제 운영과 대입 정보 제공, 비교과 프로그램 운영 등에서 지역 내 실질적 허브 역할을 수행하고 있다”고 강조했다.
또한 강 처장은 “앞으로도 지역 교육청 및 고등학교와 긴밀히 협력해 개정 교육과정과 변화하는 대입제도에 대한 정보 제공, 교과·비교과 활동 지원 등을 통해 지역 학생들의 학습 환경 격차 해소에 기여할 것”이라고 덧붙였다.
한편 동국대 WISE캠퍼스는 이번 사업 선정을 계기로, 지역 고교와의 연계 강화를 위한 프로그램을 더욱 확대하고, 고교학점제 정착을 위한 교사 연수, 학생 맞춤형 진로설계 지원 등 다양한 활동을 본격화할 계획이다.

Kang Jong-im, Director of Admissions at Dongguk University WISE Campus, emphasized, “Despite the fact that the Daegu/Gyeongbuk region has the most universities among non-metropolitan areas, most of them are concentrated near Daegu, so accessibility to higher education for high schools in the southeastern part of Gyeongbuk is still limited.” He added, “Dongguk University WISE Campus is playing a practical hub role in the region in operating the high school credit system, providing college admission information, and operating non-curricular programs.”
Director Kang also added, “We will continue to work closely with local education offices and high schools to provide information on the revised curriculum and changing college entrance system, and support curricular and extracurricular activities to help resolve the gap in learning environments for local students.”
In the meantime, Dongguk University WISE Campus plans to further expand programs to strengthen ties with local high schools, and to launch various activities such as teacher training for the establishment of the high school credit system and support for customized career planning for students, based on this project selection.
