도널드 트럼프 미국 행정부가 3일(현지시간) 제21대 대선에서 더불어민주당 이재명 후보가 당선된 것에 대해 "미국은 한국이 자유롭고 공정한 선거를 치렀으나 중국이 전세계 민주주의국가들에 간섭하고 영향력을 행사하는 것에 우려하고 반대한다"고 밝혔다.
뉴시스에 따르면 이날 백악관 관계자는 이 후보의 대통령 당선이 결정된 후 "한·미 동맹은 철통같이 남아있다"며 이같은 입장을 전했다.
이같은 백악관 입장 발표는 중앙선거관리위원회가 4일 오전 6시(한국시간)께 이 후보의 대통령 당선 공식 확정을 밝힌 후 이뤄졌다.
전날 치러진 제21대 대선에서 이 후보는 득표율 49.42%(1728만7513표)로 국민의힘 김문수 대선 후보(41.15%·1439만5639표)를 이겼다.
윤석열 전 대통령 탄핵에 따라 치러진 이번 조기 대선에서 이 후보는 당선인 신분을 거치지 않고 곧바로 대통령 임기를 시작하는 가운데 취임식은 4일 국회에서 진행된다.
