충남교육청-제주4·3평화재단, 역사·인권 교육 협력 맞손

충청남도교육청(교육감 김지철)은 4일, 제주4·3평화재단(이사장 김종민)과 함께 역사교육 내실화를 위한 업무협약을 체결하고 평화·인권 중심의 교육 연대에 본격 나섰다. 

이번 협약은 도교육청 본청에서 진행됐으며, 양 기관장을 포함한 관계자 10여 명이 참석한 가운데 조용하고도 뜻깊은 분위기 속에서 진행됐다.

이번 협력은 충남의 독립운동사 교육과 제주4·3사건 교육이 지닌 역사적 의의와 인권적 가치를 공유하고 확산하자는 데 양 기관이 깊이 공감하면서 이루어졌다.

업무협약에 따라 양 기관은 각자의 인적·물적 자원을 공유하고 교원 및 학생 대상 연수와 체험프로그램을 개발·보급하며, 중장기적인 교류와 협력을 위한 지원 체계도 함께 구축할 예정이다.

충남교육청은 그동안 충남독립운동사를 교육 현장에 꾸준히 녹여내며 지역 정체성과 역사 인식을 높여 왔고, 제주4·3평화재단은 한국 현대사의 비극을 평화교육의 자산으로 전환하는 노력을 기울여 온 바 있다. 이번 협약을 계기로 두 기관은 각자의 전문성을 접목해 평화·역사·인권의 가치를 더욱 입체적으로 교육에 담아낼 방침이다.

김지철 충남교육감은 “이번 협약을 통해 충남 교육공동체가 제주4·3의 의미를 배우고 기억으로 이어 나가는 소중한 계기가 만들어지길 기대한다”며 “우리 모두가 평화와 역사, 인권을 위해 연대하고 함께 나아가자”고 강조했다.

한편 충남교육청은 앞으로도 지역 특색을 살린 역사교육은 물론, 시대정신을 반영한 인권교육 강화를 통해 미래 세대의 역사적 감수성과 시민의식을 키워나간다는 계획이다.
