브레이크뉴스 정민우 기자= LG유플러스는 여름 휴가철을 앞두고 해외 로밍 상품에 가입한 고객도 유심보호서비스를 이용할 수 있도록 기능을 개선했다고 5일 밝혔다.
유심보호서비스는 타인이 고객의 유심 카드나 이심(eSIM)을 도용해 다른 사람의 기기에서 사용하는 행위를 원천 차단하는 서비스다.
유심보호서비스에 가입하면, 고객의 유심 정보와 단말 정보가 연동 관리된다. 이에 불법 복제된 유심이 다른 단말에 들어가더라도 해당 단말의 통화·데이터 등 통신 서비스가 즉각 차단된다. 불법 복제 유심으로 인한 금전 피해 등을 예방할 수 있는 것이다.
기존에는 해외 로밍 중인 경우에 이 서비스를 이용할 수 없었지만, 지난달 30일 기술 개선을 통해 로밍 여부와 관계없이 유심보호서비스 적용이 가능해졌다.
지난달 30일 이전에 가입했던 고객도 별도 신청 절차 없이 해외 로밍 중 유심보호서비스를 받을 수 있다. 현재 해외 체류 중인 고객은 귀국 시 업그레이드된 서비스를 제공할 예정이다. 관련된 안내는 LG유플러스 공식 애플리케이션 ‘당신의 U+’나 공식 홈페이지에서 확인할 수 있다.
유심보호서비스 이용을 원하는 고객은 ‘당신의 U+’ 앱이나 공식 홈페이지, 고객센터 등에서 가입을 신청할 수 있다. LG유플러스 망을 사용하는 알뜰폰 고객도 이용 중인 알뜰폰 업체 홈페이지 등을 통해 서비스 가입이 가능하다.
