6일 경기도 파주, 대전YWCA가 현충일을 맞아 임진각 평화누리공원에서 ‘DMZ순례단과 함께하는 한반도 평화대회: 적대를 멈추고 평화로!’에 참여하며, 한반도 평화를 위한 시민 행동에 나섰다.
이번 행사는 전국 YWCA 회원들이 공동으로 주최한 연합 캠페인의 일환으로, 대전YWCA는 이사·위원 연수 프로그램과 연계해 실천적 참여의 의미를 더했다.
대전YWCA 임직원과 회원 등 약 30여 명은 이날 오전, 분단의 상징이자 평화의 소망이 공존하는 임진각에서 ‘DMZ 생명평화순례 걷기’와 평화대회에 참여한 뒤, 곧이어 평화통일 캠페인을 전개했다.
참가자들은 파란 천을 힘껏 펼쳐 흔드는 ‘평화의 물결 퍼포먼스’를 통해 “다시는 전쟁이 일어나선 안 된다”는 시민의 간절한 바람을 시각화했다. 임진각의 평화누리공원이 분단 현실을 마주하는 장소라는 점에서 이 퍼포먼스는 한층 깊은 상징성을 담았다.

순국선열을 기리는 이날, 대전YWCA는 전쟁의 기억이 응축된 분단의 현장에서 ‘기억을 넘어 실천으로’라는 YWCA의 평화운동 정신을 다시금 되새겼다.
대전YWCA는 이번 활동을 계기로 향후에도 지역사회와 함께 평화, 생명, 정의의 가치를 실현하는 다양한 캠페인을 지속할 계획이다. 시민들과의 연대를 통해 평화의 흐름을 놓치지 않고, 한반도에 진정한 평화가 뿌리내리도록 실천을 이어가겠다는 의지를 밝혔다.
