(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천시가 10일, 지역 대학과 협력해 초등학생 돌봄 공백을 최소화하는 ‘늘봄학교 프로그램’을 본격적으로 추진한다고 밝혔다.
인천시에 따르면, 시는 지난 2월, 교육부의 지역혁신중심 대학지원체계(RISE)와 연계된 ‘늘봄학교 지원 과제’에서 전국 우수 지자체로 선정되어, 향후 5년간 매년 43억 원의 국비 인센티브를 지원받게 됐다.
인천시는 이를 포함한 총 53억 원 규모의 예산으로 ‘늘봄학교 프로그램’을 추진할 계획이다.
지역혁신중심 대학지원체계(RISE)는 지자체가 주도하는 대학 재정지원사업으로, 대학의 우수한 교육자원을 지역사회에 확대 적용함으로써 지역과 대학의 동반 성장을 목표로 한다.
인천시는 라이즈(RISE)와 연계된 ‘늘봄학교 지원 과제’를 통해 지역 대학들이 수준 높은 돌봄 프로그램을 개발하도록 지원하고, 인천시교육청, 인천테크노파크, 유관기관 등과 협력해 초등학교 현장에 다양한 늘봄 프로그램이 공급되도록 할 방침이다.
이번 사업의 주관대학은 경인교육대학교로, 사업의 총괄 계획을 맡는다.
참여대학으로는 인천대학교, 인하대학교, 경인여자대학교, 재능대학교, 청운대학교(캠퍼스), 안양대학교(캠퍼스) 등 6개 대학이 함께하며, 이들 대학은 늘봄학교 맞춤형 교육 프로그램을 공동 개발하고 현장에 공급하는 역할을 담당한다.
올해는 인천시는 총 100여 개의 늘봄 프로그램을 개발하고, 1,000여 명의 전문 늘봄강사를 양성할 계획이다.
이를 통해 관내 초등학교의 400개 늘봄교실에 프로그램을 제공하고, 약 8,000명의 초등학생이 직접적인 교육과 돌봄 혜택을 받을 것으로 기대된다.
인천시는 이번 사업을 통해 학생들에게 질 높은 교육 기회를 제공하는 동시에, 학부모의 돌봄 부담을 실질적으로 줄일 수 있을 것으로 보고 있다.
인천시 관계자는 “이번 늘봄 과제 선정을 계기로 지역 대학과의 협력을 더욱 강화하고, 체계적인 늘봄학교 운영을 추진할 것”이라며 “학생들에게 더 나은 교육 환경을 제공하고, 지역 교육 혁신을 선도하는 데 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
한편, 인천시는 늘봄사업의 본격적인 추진에 앞서 지난 6월 4일부터 5일까지 이틀간 주관 대학인 경인교육대학교에서 인천시교육청과 협력하여 사업의 취지와 추진계획을 공유하는 ‘RISE 늘봄학교 운영 방향 사업 설명회’를 개최한 바 있다.
