(브레이크뉴스인천 박상도 기자) 인천대학교가 12일, 조형예술학부 차기율 교수가 인천문화재단과 인천아트플랫폼이 공동 주관하는 시각예술 분야 주요 프로젝트인 ‘2025 인천미술 올해의 작가’에 선정됐다고 밝혔다.
인천대에 따르면, ‘인천미술 올해의 작가’는 인천 연고의 예술인 가운데 수준 높은 창작성과 활동 실적을 보유한 작가를 발굴하여 개인전을 개최함으로써, 지역 미술계의 활성화와 시민의 문화예술 향유 기회를 확대하고자 마련된 제도다. 특히 중견 예술인과 청년 예술인을 격년으로 선정하는 이 제도는 인천 시각예술의 정체성과 미래를 함께 모색하는 플랫폼으로 자리 잡고 있다.
이번 선정은 추천위원회의 추천과 공모를 통해 접수된 총 19명의 후보 작가를 대상으로 심의가 진행됐으며, 창작성, 지역 활동, 향후 지속가능성이라는 평가 기준에 따라 심의를 거쳤다.
심의위원회는 “인간과 자연의 관계, 조화, 융화 등 거시적 주제를 고고학적 발굴 형식으로 시각화하며 다양한 매체 실험을 시도해 온 차기율 작가는 예술적 독창성과 함께 인천 지역 내 예술생태계에서 꾸준히 협업하고 기여해 온 이력으로 주목받았다”고 평가했다.
또 그의 작품은 인천 갯벌, 지역 생태, 미디어 고고학 등 인천의 풍토성을 깊이 있게 반영하고 있으며, 이러한 작업 세계는 향후 인천이 세계 동시대 미술과 접속하는 데 있어 중요한 가능성을 보여준다고 덧붙였다.
이번 인천미술 올해의 작가 선정을 계기로 그의 예술적 성과가 재조명되고 확장되기를 기대하고 있다.

또한, 인천대학교 무한상상연구소(이하 ‘연구소’)가 12일, 스타브릿지센터 과학키움캠프를 진행을 위한 학생 연구 수행 프로젝트에 참여할 중·고등학생을 모집한다고 밝혔다.
무한상상연구소에 따르면, 이번 프로젝트 모집은 6월 23일까지 진행되며, 중·고등학생 2~4명이 팀을 구성하여 평소에 궁금했던 과학 현상에 대한 연구계획서를 제출하고, 서류심사 후 심층 면접을 통해 10팀 내외를 선발할 예정이다.
선발된 학생은 7월부터 8월까지 총 8주 동안 연구를 수행할 예정이며, 교수, 연구원, 교사 등 전문가의 멘토링과 함께 연구 활동 지원을 받고, 연구 주제 구체화에서부터 실험 활동과 결과 분석, 산출물 발표에 이르는 과학자 활동을 경험해 볼 것이다.
스타브릿지센터는 한국과학창의재단 주관으로 교사-학교-연구기관을 연계하여 교사가 직접 연구에 참여하고, 첨단과학기술 연구 경험에 기반한 과학교육 관련 프로그램, 콘텐츠 등을 개발하고 제공하는 기관으로 올해 인천대학교는 신규 운영기관으로 선정됐으며, 전국의 4개 대학교(인천대, 강원대, 울산과학기술원, 경북대)에서 운영되고 있다.
최수봉 소장(연구소장, 인천대학교 물리학과 교수)은 “학생이 직접 연구 주제를 선정하여 수행하는 연구 과정을 통해 스스로 문제를 정의하고 창의적으로 해결할 수 있는 자발적 역량과 과학적 탐구심을 강화하여 미래 과학기술 인재로 성장할 수 있도록 노력하겠다.”고 밝혔다.
