전북자치도는 16일부터 17일까지 뉴욕과 뉴저지 일원에서 ▲ UN 본부 ▲ 경제기관 ▲ 문화단체 등과 고위급 면담을 갖고 전주올림픽 유치 비전 및 전북의 신산업 전략을 설명하며 국제협력의 외연을 넓혔다.
이번 방문은 김관영 도지사를 단장으로 한 전북대표단의 미국 출장 일정(6월 15일~21일) 일환으로 지난 2000년 자매결연을 맺은 뉴저지주를 비롯 동부권 핵심 도시들과 외교 네트워크 확장을 위해 추진됐다.
