브레이크뉴스 문홍철 기자= 미국 중앙은행인 연방준비제도(Fed·연준)가 18일(현지시각) 기준금리를 또 다시 동결했다. 올 1·3·5월에 이어 4차례 연속 동결이다.
연준은 연방공개시장위원회(FOMC) 정례회의 뒤 기준금리를 종전 4.25~4.50%로 유지하기로 결정했다고 발표했다.
이에 따라 한국(2.50%)과의 금리 차이는 상단 기준 2.0%p로 유지됐다.
연준은 성명에서 “물가상승률은 여전히 다소 높은 수준을 유지하고 있다”며 “경제 전망 불확실성은 줄어들었지만, 여전히 높은 수준이다”고 진단했다.
단, 연준은 분기 말마다 공개하는 경제전망예측(SEP)에서 올해 말 기준금리(중간값)를 3.9%로 예측했다. 이는 지난 3월 예측치를 유지한 것으로, 올 연말까지 2차례 0.25%p씩 금리 인하가 있을 것임을 시사했다.
