충남 서산시가 대산항의 물동량을 늘리고 항만을 활성화하기 위해 관계 기관 및 기업들과 힘을 모았다.
시는 지난 18일 대산지방해양수산청 대회의실에서 '서산 대산항 물동량 증대와 항만 활성화를 위한 상생협력 업무 협약'을 체결했다고 밝혔다.
이번 협약에는 서산시, 충남도, 대산지방해양수산청을 비롯해 대산항 관련 화주사, 운영사, 하역사 등 총 11개 기관 및 기업이 참여했다. 협약에 따라 서산시, 충남도, 대산지방해양수산청은 대산항 활성화를 위한 행정적, 재정적 지원에 집중하고, 참여 기업들은 대산항을 통한 수출입 확대에 노력하기로 했다. 또한, 항만 운영사 및 하역사는 서비스 품질 개선과 이용 환경 조성에 힘쓸 예정이다.

서산 대산항의 컨테이너 물동량은 지난해 7만 2천723TEU를 기록했으며, 올해 1월부터 4월까지는 2만 1천434TEU로 집계되었다. 시는 지난 2월 충남 역대 최대 규모인 2천5백TEU급 컨테이너 정기 항로를 신규 개설하는 성과를 거두기도 했다.
