6.25 한민족 내전은 1950-1953년에 치러졌다. 그리하여, 나는 전쟁 때 태어나서 자란, 전쟁세대이다. 1952년생이니, 전쟁을 2년이나 경험했다. 하지만 총쏘는 소리, 포를 쏘는 포성소리, 하늘을 나는 폭격기 소리 등을 기억하지 못한다.
종전 이후 72년 간은 평화시대였으니 나는 아주 긴 기간 전쟁이 없는 평화시대를 살아온 사람이다. 우리나라 역사에서 이렇게 긴 평화시대는 없었다. 우리만의 국방력도 있겠으나, 한미 방위동맹에 따른 미국 힘이 뒷배가 되어준 안보(安保)의 힘이 컸다고 생각한다.

나는 미국 뉴욕의 맨해튼에서 5년간 살아보기도 했다. 미국 뉴욕의 신문사(세계신보)에서, 박정희-전두환 군사 독재정부를 반대했던, 반정부 기자로 재직했었다.
서울대학을 졸업한 나의 막내 아들(문흥윤 박사)은 미국 위스콘신 주립대에 유학, 지난 2022년에 박사(식물병리학)가 됐다. 과학자이다. 그 대학에서 포닥(포스트 닥터-박사 이후 연구원)으로 3년째 재직하고 있다.
나와 나의 가족은 미국으로부터 받은 은혜(恩惠)가 크다. 특히 전쟁 없는 나라, 대한민국에서 지난 72년 간 생존해왔다는 것은? 나의 인생에 가장 큰 의미(意味)로 존재한다. 평화가 함께하는 대한민국을 존중한다.
나는 기자-언론인-신문사 오너(현재=브레이크뉴스 사주)로 52년을 살아왔다. 우리나라에서 미국식 언론자유를 구가해 왔다.
이러저런, 여러 가지의 의미에서, 나는 본질적으로 친(親) 인류주의자인 동시에, 친미주의자(親美主義者)이다. 이는, 내가 나를 친미주의자라고 내놓고 자랑하는 이유들에 해당한다.
그러하므로, 내가 생각하는 나의 미래는? 과거에, 나와 가족에게 평화를 안겨준 미국이 득세(得勢)하는 것을 원한다. 미국식 민주주의, 미국식 자본주의의 확장을 원한다. 이게 나의 미래관(未來觀)이다.

The reason why I proudly call myself a 'pro-American'
[Essay-like approach] Long period of peace... I think the power of security (安保) backed by the US power according to the ROK-US defense alliance was great

The Korean Civil War of 6.25 took place from 1950 to 1953. Therefore, I am a member of the war generation, born and raised during the war. I was born in 1952, so I experienced two years of war. However, I do not remember the sound of guns being fired, the sound of cannons firing, or the sound of bombers flying in the sky.
The 72 years since the end of the war were a period of peace, so I am someone who has lived in a very long period of peace without war. There has never been such a long period of peace in the history of our country. We may have our own national defense capabilities, but I think the power of security backed by the US power in the ROK-US defense alliance was great.
I also lived in Manhattan, New York, USA for 5 years. I worked as an anti-government reporter at a New York newspaper, opposing the military dictatorships of Park Chung-hee and Chun Doo-hwan.
My youngest son (Dr. Moon Heung-yoon), who graduated from Seoul National University, studied abroad at the University of Wisconsin, USA, and received his PhD (plant pathology) in 2022. He is a scientist. He has been working as a postdoc (researcher after PhD) at that university for 3 years.
My family and I have received great grace from the US. In particular, having survived in the Republic of Korea, a country without war, for the past 72 years? It has the greatest meaning in my life. I respect the Republic of Korea, where peace is with us. I have lived as a journalist, journalist, and newspaper owner (currently the owner of Break News) for 52 years. I have advocated for American-style freedom of the press in our country.
In various ways, I am essentially a pro-humanist and a pro-American. This is the reason why I boast about being pro-American.
So what do I think my future will be? I want the United States, which brought peace to me and my family in the past, to gain power. I want American-style democracy and American-style capitalism to expand. This is my view of the future.
Of course, I am a pro-South Korea (pro-Republic of Korea) person from the root (all over my body and mind)!!!
