세종시가 공공체육시설의 운영 전문성을 높이고 시민 이용 편의를 제고하기 위해 오는 7월 1일부터 세종시설관리공단에 체육시설 123곳의 운영을 전면 위탁한다고 23일 밝혔다.
세종시는 이번 조치를 통해 그동안 시청 산하 시설관리사업소와 상하수도사업소로 이원화돼 있던 체육시설 관리 체계를 통합한다고 설명했다. 위탁 기간은 3년으로, 시설관리공단은 해당 기간 동안 운영 기준과 절차를 일원화해 서비스 품질을 개선할 계획이다.
이번 위탁 대상에는 수영장과 물놀이시설, 중앙공원 내 체육시설 등을 포함해 다양한 형태의 공공체육시설이 포함돼 있다. 그동안 공단이 축적해온 시설 운영 경험을 바탕으로 시민 수요에 보다 능동적으로 대응하고, 운영의 연속성과 효율성도 확보할 수 있을 것으로 시는 기대하고 있다.
