교통복지 측면에서도 변화가 있다. 기존에는 국가유공자 교통복지카드가 입석버스에만 적용됐지만, 앞으로는 좌석버스 이용 시에도 동일한 혜택이 제공된다.
주낙영 경주시장은 “이번 요금 조정은 시민 불편 해소는 물론, 요금 형평성과 교통복지 확대까지 고려한 균형 있는 결정”이라며 “앞으로도 시민 눈높이에 맞춘 교통행정을 지속적으로 추진하겠다”고 밝혔다.
한편, 경주시는 이달 말까지 시민 홍보를 마무리하고 7월 1일부터 통합 요금제를 본격 시행할 예정이다.
